Trips & Workshops
Educational visits and workshops play an important role in enriching the curriculum at The Raleigh School. They are carefully planned to deepen understanding, bring learning to life, and provide meaningful real-world contexts for the knowledge and skills taught in the classroom. First-hand experiences help pupils make connections, secure understanding and remember learning over time.
Trips and workshops also support pupils’ personal development. They build confidence, independence, resilience, and social skills, and give children opportunities to experience new environments, work collaboratively and apply learning beyond the school setting.
We ensure that educational visits are inclusive and accessible to all pupils. They are closely linked to curriculum content and planned with clear educational purpose so that every child benefits from high-quality experiences that broaden horizons and strengthen learning.
Information about planned trips and workshops for each year group are published in July and listed on our school calendar.
Residential Trips
Residential visits are a valuable part of the curriculum at The Raleigh School and play a key role in pupils’ personal development.
Spending time away from home helps children develop independence, resilience, and confidence. Residential visits provide opportunities for pupils to take responsibility for themselves, work cooperatively with others, and build positive relationships with peers and staff in a different setting.
We ensure that residential visits are inclusive and accessible and that all pupils are supported to take part fully.
The impact of these experiences is seen not only during the visit itself, but in pupils’ confidence, independence, and engagement back in school.

Year 4 - Henley Fort (Surrey Outdoor Learning)
A visit to Henley Fort gives pupils a first-hand insight into local history and life in the past.
Our Year 4 pupils spend two nights at Henley Fort, providing an important introduction to residential visits. This shorter stay helps children build confidence, develop independence, and ease into being away from home in a supportive and familiar environment.

Year 5 - Osmington Bay (PGL)
The children in Year Five enjoy their visit to the PGL Centre at Osmington Bay, Dorset. Incorporated into this residential is a day visit to Durdle Door which complements their costal topic.
Our Year 5 children spend three nights at Osmington Bay, building on their two-night experience at Henley Fort and further developing their confidence and independence.

Year 6 - Barton Hall (PGL)
In the Summer term, Year Six visit the PGL Centre at Barton Hall in Torquay. This residential is a key part of the Year 6 experience and helps pupils develop independence, confidence, and resilience as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.
Our Year 6 pupils spend four nights at Barton Hall and are exceptionally well prepared by their earlier residentials.
Educational visits and residential trips are an important part of life at The Raleigh School. They enrich the curriculum, support personal development, and give pupils valuable experiences beyond the classroom.
Through carefully planned visits from Year 4 to Year 6, pupils build confidence, independence, and resilience over time. These experiences support learning, strengthen relationships, and help prepare children for the next stage of their education.
