Parents 'and Friends' Association

At The Raleigh School, our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is known as Friends of the Raleigh — or FOTR for short.

We’re a welcoming group of parent and carer volunteers who organise events, raise funds, and build community spirit.

Our goal is to support the school and enrich the educational experience for all our children — while having fun along the way!

What we do

The Friends of the Raleigh runs a fantastic calendar of events that bring our community together and raise valuable funds:

  • Seasonal Fairs – Christmas, Easter, and Summer Fairs with games, stalls, and entertainment
  • School Discos – always a hit with the children!
  • Bake Sales – monthly, with each year group taking a turn
  • Summer Ball or Parent Parties – our biggest social events, in the past raising over £10,000 in a single night!

We also organise smaller activities like raffles, and other community-building initiatives – fresh ideas are always welcomed. And the more parents and carers are involved, the more we can do!

Why it matters

The money we raise directly benefits the school, helping to enhance your child’s (or children’s) experience at what is already a great school and community.

Most recently, our fundraising focus is helping the school relocate and redesign the library, creating a more inspiring space for reading and learning.

Over the last few years, Friends of the Raleigh has funded other projects, which include:

  • A new Reception play area
  • A modernised outdoor playground
  • Large digital screens in the school hall
  • Classroom equipment and music subscriptions
  • Little extras like Christmas crackers for the children’s festive lunch

How you can get involved

There’s a place for everyone in the Friends of the Raleigh:

  • Attend a half-termly meeting to learn what’s happening and how you can help – these will be promoted via the Class Whatsapp groups
  • Volunteer to help at events - from baking cakes to running a stall.
  • Organise events – taking a key role in organising one the events is great fun and a way to use your skills to benefit the children and the school. From leading a planning committee to working behind the scenes in marketing, design, finance, logistics… whatever you can offer will help things run!
  • Supporting more passively via online shopping schemes or work based match-funding

Even a small contribution can make a big difference.
