Curriculum Areas
The curriculum at The Raleigh School is organised into clear curriculum areas that together provide pupils with a broad, balanced and ambitious education.
Each curriculum area contributes to pupils’ academic development, personal growth and understanding of the world.
Subjects are carefully planned so that knowledge, skills, and vocabulary build progressively from Reception through to Year 6, ensuring pupils develop secure understanding over time.
How the curriculum is structured
Our curriculum areas reflect the full breadth of the National Curriculum and include core subjects alongside a wide range of foundation subjects. Subjects are grouped into clearly defined faculties of thematically related areas, supporting coherence and progression across the curriculum. Each subject area is led within the school by a dedicated subject leader and is strategically overseen by the senior leadership team.
Our trust-wide faculty model strengthens subject leadership, curriculum development and professional collaboration, ensuring consistently high standards and shared expertise across all schools within the South Farnham Educational Trust.
Within each curriculum area:
- Learning is carefully sequenced to build knowledge and understanding over time
- Key concepts and subject-specific vocabulary are revisited and deepened
- Meaningful links are made across subjects where appropriate
- Learning is skilfully adapted to ensure all pupils are supported to achieve exceptionally well

Professional development
High-quality teaching sits at the heart of the curriculum at The Raleigh School. We invest in ongoing professional development so that staff are well-supported, highly skilled and confident in their practice.
Through regular training, collaboration, and shared expertise across our trust, staff continually refine their subject knowledge and teaching approaches.
This ensures that teaching remains consistent, responsive and effective, ensuring that pupils consistently benefit from the best possible learning experiences every day.
Beyond our school
We are incredibly proud that our work extends beyond The Raleigh School. Through active collaboration with the Effingham Learning Partnership, our colleagues within the South Farnham Educational Trust, and our involvement in Initial Teacher Training via South Farnham SCITT and SFET Teaching School Hub, we share expertise, develop curriculum leadership and support high-quality teacher development across our local area and beyond.
