Pupil Premium at The Raleigh

At The Raleigh, we believe that background should never be a barrier to opportunity. Pupil Premium funding enables us to provide more, not less, for pupils who may face disadvantage, ensuring they benefit from the highest quality teaching, the richest experiences and the strongest support.

Our approach is rooted in equity. We work relentlessly to level the playing field so that every child can achieve highly, feel confident in who they are, and believe that every door is open to them.

Our Approach

We use Pupil Premium funding strategically to:

  • secure strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics
  • raise aspirations and cultural capital
  • support wellbeing, confidence and personal development
  • improve attendance, engagement and participation
  • remove financial barriers that may limit access to learning and enrichment

This work is closely aligned with our wider school priorities around high-quality teaching, inclusion and pastoral care. Every member of staff plays a role in championing our disadvantaged pupils and advocating for their success.

Impact to Date

Our Pupil Premium provision is already making a strong and sustained difference for pupils at The Raleigh.

We are proud that disadvantaged pupils achieve highly and make strong progress from their starting points. In recent end of Key Stage 2 assessments, 100% of Pupil Premium pupils met the expected standard or above across all subjects, with average scaled scores exceeding national averages in reading, mathematics and GPS. Value-added measures also show a positive impact across all core areas.

Beyond academic outcomes, Pupil Premium pupils are increasingly confident, engaged and active members of school life. Participation in clubs, enrichment activities and leadership opportunities has continued to grow, supported by the removal of financial barriers and targeted encouragement where needed.

Attendance and engagement for Pupil Premium pupils remain a key focus of our work. Close collaboration with families, targeted pastoral support and a strong emphasis on wellbeing help pupils feel settled, supported and ready to learn.

Our 2025-28 Strategy

Our 2025–2028 Pupil Premium Strategy is focused on securing strong academic foundations while deliberately widening horizons for eligible pupils. We prioritise equity of opportunity, ensuring that disadvantage does not limit achievement, confidence or access to the full life of the school. Our ambition is that Pupil Premium pupils achieve highly, participate fully and leave The Raleigh School believing that every pathway is open to them.

We deliver this through uncompromising expectations of high-quality, inclusive teaching, supported by targeted academic and pastoral provision where needed. Enrichment, leadership and wider opportunities are planned intentionally, not incidentally, and barriers, including financial ones, are proactively removed. Careful monitoring, professional dialogue and close partnership with families ensure our approach remains responsive and consistently effective.

Measuring Success by 2028

By the end of our current strategy period (2025–2028):

  • Pupil Premium pupils will continue to make rapid and sustained academic progress
  • gaps in attainment will continue to close and remain closed
  • pupils will take part fully in enrichment, clubs and leadership opportunities
  • attendance and engagement will be at least in line with whole-school averages
  • pupils will leave The Raleigh as confident, ambitious learners, ready for the next stage of their education

We measure success not only through outcomes, but through the aspirations we ignite and the opportunities we create.
