Safeguarding

The Raleigh School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We expect all staff, volunteers, and visitors to share this commitment.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We have clear child protection policies and procedures in place, and all staff, including supply staff, volunteers, and governors, receive appropriate safeguarding training and guidance. Parents and carers are welcome to view all safeguarding-related policies in the School Policies section of our website.

We work closely with parents, carers and external agencies to safeguard children. Where concerns arise, we will usually discuss these with parents or carers at the earliest appropriate opportunity, unless we believe that doing so would place a child at further risk.

All staff, including teachers, support staff, volunteers, and governors, receive regular safeguarding training and updates. This ensures that everyone working in the school understands their responsibilities, knows how to recognise concerns, and is confident in how to report them appropriately.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) are:
  • Mrs E Carter-McQueen (Lead)
  • Mr R Fitzgerald
  • Mrs K Garcia

Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) are members of staff who have specific responsibility for safeguarding and child protection within the school. They provide advice and guidance to staff, respond to concerns and work closely with families and external agencies to ensure children are kept safe.

Reporting a concern

If you are concerned about a child’s welfare, please record your concern, including any observations or conversations, and report it to a Designated Safeguarding Lead as soon as possible on the same day.

Do not investigate concerns yourself.

If your concern relates to the behaviour or actions of a member of staff, this should be reported in confidence to a Designated Safeguarding Lead. The matter will be referred to the Headteacher, or to the Chair of Governors if the concern relates to the Headteacher, and managed in line with statutory guidance.
