Admissions

Admissions to our school in Reception

The Raleigh School admits children to Reception in the September following their fourth birthday.

Applications for Reception places must be made to Surrey County Council by January in the year of entry. Information about the admissions process is available at: www.surreycc.gov.uk/admissions

The deadline to apply for a Reception place for your child in September 2026 is Thursday 15th January 2026.

Details of the school’s admission criteria are published within this section of the website. Admission arrangements may vary from year to year in line with statutory consultation and parents are advised to check the relevant criteria carefully.

Moving your child to The Raleigh School (in-year admission)

Applications for places outside the normal Reception intake should be made using the school’s In-Year Admissions Form.

Completed forms, together with any supporting documentation, should be submitted either electronically or in person to:

Mrs Gentile (Admissions Officer)
The Raleigh School
Northcote Crescent
West Horsley
Surrey
KT24 6LX
Email: info.raleigh@sfet.org.uk

Once the relevant forms have been received, your child will be added to the waiting list for that year group. Should a space become available, our admissions officer will contact you to offer the place.

Admission arrangements and oversubscription criteria

Where there are more applications than places available, admissions are determined in accordance with the published oversubscription criteria.

Distance from the school is used as the tie-breaker and is measured in a straight line using Surrey County Council’s Geographical Information System, from the child’s home address to the nearest nominated school gate.

The nominated gates are:

  • The pedestrian gate linking Northcote Crescent and Nightingale Crescent
  • The main gate on Northcote Crescent

Details of the admissions arrangements, supplementary information forms, and appeals timetable for each year's admissions are available within this section.

Further admissions information

Admission outside the normal age group

Parents may occasionally seek to request admission outside their child’s chronological year group. Such requests are considered on an individual basis, taking account of the circumstances of the case and the child’s best interests, in line with Surrey County Council guidance.

Waiting lists

Where applications exceed the number of places available, waiting lists operate for each year group in accordance with the oversubscription criteria, without regard to the date of application.

Reception waiting lists are maintained until the end of the Autumn Term. Waiting lists for all year groups are reviewed annually.

Appeals

Parents have the right to appeal to an independent panel if a place is not offered in line with the agreed admissions criteria. Information about the appeals process is available at:
www.surreycc.gov.uk/schoolappeals

Admissions policy

The admissions policy is determined by the Trust and reviewed annually. Details of the agreed admissions policy for each academic year can be found within this section.
